Concept schematics, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process and Instrumentation, are often a part of process development, beginning with a concept, progressing in the level of details to PFD and to P&ID.  A complex system often begins with a concept diagram.  We have worked on multiple complex projects that began with a simple sketch on a piece of scratch paper or a whiteboard.
