Vapor Recovery

ENGraphted Engineering Solutions was involved in multiple projects having to do with the recovery of petroleum and other harmful vapors that prohibited from being released to the environment. Recovery technologies included activated carbon and a thermal oxidizer.

A unique and particularly interesting vapor recovery project made use of an internal combustion engine as a mean of destruction of harmful vapors. The system concentrated petroleum vapors and used the BTU value in the vapors to supplement the fuel of an internal combustion (IC) engine. As part of the project, we tested and proved that the combustion process in the engine provided sufficient destruction that meets EPA standards. In addition, the IC engine powered a generator. This system, in essence, converted the harmful vapors to electric power which was then metered back to the power grid for credit.
